Steel Raise Funds to Benefit Kids in C.L.I.M.B. Program
Chippewa Falls, WI- The Chippewa Steel and Marshfield Clinic Health System partnered to raise $4,225. On Friday, February 21st the Chippewa Steel sported Superhero jerseys as part of Superhero Night. The game-worn jerseys were auctioned off to benefit C.L.I.M.B. (Children’s Lives Include Moments of Bravery), a program that helps kids find the courage to deal with cancer in their families.
“To know the team literally took the jerseys off their back to help kids whose families have been impacted by cancer is very touching and appreciated,” said Shayla Mattson, co-coordinator of the C.L.I.M.B. ® program and cancer center patient navigator. “Anyone can be a superhero. Witnessing the journey a patient with cancer and their families go through, or when you see a team come together to support a cause like this, they are all superheroes to us.”
“We’re proud to be part of the Chippewa Valley and have the ability to give back to our community,” said Jake Serwe, business manager of the Chippewa Steel hockey team. “The bidders of the superhero jerseys were more than generous in helping raise these funds for the C.L.I.M.B. ® program.”
The Steel return to action at Chippewa Area Ice Area Friday, March 13th for $2 Beer Night presented by Leinenkugel’s. Tickets can be purchased by calling 715-861-2131 or visiting chippewasteetlhockey.com
