Steel Earn First Win of the Season
(Chippewa Falls, WI)- This evening the Chippewa Steel completed their three-game series against the Kenai River Brown Bears.
The first period saw resiliency from the Steel which they would build on throughout the game and earn them their first victory of the year. Though Kenai River had momentum in the first, the Steel held them to one goal and answered quickly with a goal from Brock Baker assisted by Braden Lindstrom.
A physical second period brought solid chances for both teams. The Steel increased their lead on the powerplay when Ryan Waltman deflected in a shot from teammate Braden Lindstrom at 9:18 of the period. Kenai River tallied again after to tie the game at two.
In the third the Steel would fall behind early on a Kenai River goal but bounced back scoring two goals to put them up 4-3 for most of the third period. Goals in the third were scored by Hansson at 4:20, and Bacallao at 7:43. The Steel would hold onto the lead and lockdown their defense destroying any hope for Kenai River.
Grant Boldt was solid between the pipes for the Steel, saving 30 of 33 shots earning himself his first win of the season.
