Steel Power Past Brown Bears
(Chippewa Falls, WI)- The Steel concluded their three-game weekend series against the Kenai River Brown Bears tonight. The first period was comprised of good scoring chances for each team with shots showing 10-8 in favor of the home team. Kenai River took the lead late in the period, but it did not last long. Just 55 seconds later Brock Baker scored a powerplay goal to tie it up before the end of the first.
Connor Ronayne opened the scoring six minutes into the second period giving the Steel a one goal lead early on. A couple minutes later Connor McGrath got his first goal back in a Steel uniform to give them a 3-1 lead. Brown Bears Morgan Winters scored a few minutes after to bring the score to 3-2 Steel.
The third period was all Steel as they dominated play and scored twice more. The first goal came just 21 seconds into the period when Leo Bacallo found the back of the net. Midway through the period Ethan Benz lit the lamp on the powerplay courtesy of a backdoor pass from Grisha Gotovets. Steel held onto the three goal lead to get their second win of the season.
Shots on goal finished 30 for the Steel and 24 for the Brown Bears.
