Steel Come Up Short

(Chippewa Falls, WI)- Tonight the Steel faced off against the Janesville Jets in the battle of Wisconsin. The Steel controlled most of the first period outshooting Janesville 17-12 and tested Jets goaltender Eli Bowers in his first NAHL game. Despite the Steels strong effort, Janesville would capitalize twice and take a 2-0 lead into the second period.

In the second period Janesville would put pressure on early and score just five minutes in. Steel pushed back but still could not find the back of the net. Despite the frustration they continued to put pressure on the Jets and created a lot of offense on special teams.

In the third period Janesville scored first but the Steel rallied back. The first goal was scored by Spencer Cox to get the momentum going, while the second goal was scored by Michael Black who tallied his first of the year and brought the Steel within one. Steel pulled goaltender Grant Boldt in the last minute but came up short. The final shots were 40-26.

The Steel return to the Chippewa Area Ice Arena Thursday February 11th against the Fairbanks Ice Dogs.
