Steel Win Back-to-Back Games
(Chippewa Falls, WI)- Tonight the Steel took on the Kenai River Brown Bears for the sixth time this season.
The first period was full of action for the home team as they posted thirteen shots for and only gave up five against. The lone goal was scored on the powerplay by Grisha Gotovets when he picked up a rebound on the back door off a shot by Ryan Waltman. The period was controlled by the Steel and despite the chippy play they would go into the second ahead by one.
In the second period Steel found their offensive stride creating lots of scoring chances and netting another goal on the powerplay. Liam Hansson was again the only goal scorer for the period converting on the man advantage with a wicked wrister from the right circle. Steel goaltender Berk Berkeliev was tested much more and came up with 14 saves on 14 shots to round out a solid performance by the Steel in the second.
The third period was back and forth both teams getting great chances with special teams being put to the test. Kenai River got on the board twice in the third tying the game at two with two powerplay goals but shortly after, Braden Lindstrom would come in clutch again getting the game winner at 16:09 of the period and you guessed it on the powerplay.
The Steel return to the Chippewa Area Ice Arena tomorrow night against the Austin Bruins. Limited tickets are available at chippewasteelhockey.com.
