(CHIPPEWA FALLS, WI)- The Steel begin a three-game series with rival Janesville on Thursday. Chippewa will host the Janesville Jets on Friday at Chippewa Area Ice Arena with the other contests beginning played at Janesville Ice Arena. Chippewa enters Thursday night’s game by losing in a shootout last Thursday to Janesville after coming back from a two-goal deficit. Liam Hansson was able to tie the game in a dramatic fashion with just five seconds remaining in the third period. Chippewa is led by Ethan Benz who also netted two goals in the loss last week to Janesville. Benz leads the team in goals with 12. Defenseman Spencer Cox leads the team in assists with 14.
What to Watch For
The away game on Thursday begins a stretch of three straight versus Janesville before the team heads to Alaska for a pair of weekend matchups with Kenai River and Fairbanks. Prior to Thursday’s game, the Steel are 9 points out of the final playoff spot in the Midwest Division with four fewer games played compared to Kenai River who currently holds the final playoff spot in the division. The Jets are led by Cade Destefani and Charlie Schoen who both have recorded 33 and 31 points respectively on the season.
