(CHIPPEWA FALLS, WI)- The Steel begin a weekend series with the Fairbanks Ice Dogs on Friday. Chippewa entered the matchup being swept in a series with Kenai last weekend. Chippewa now sits 15 points behind Kenai for the final playoff spot in the Midwest Division with only 8 games remaining. Chippewa is led by Liam Hansson and Ethan Benz who have 26 and 24 points respectively. The Ice Dogs are led by Bret Link with 20 goals and 16 assists. Fairbanks is expected to start Kayden Hargraves in the net. In 25 games Hargraves has a 14-9-2 record with a 0.90 save percentage.
What to Watch For
The Steel wrap up their long road trip to Alaska after their final games against Fairbanks this season. Fairbanks is currently in the third spot in the Midwest Division and is just 4 points behind the Minnesota Magicians for the second playoff spot. This will be Fairbanks’ second weekend of the 20-21 NAHL season hosting home games at Big Dipper Ice Arena as they had played the majority of their season in Marshall Minnesota. The Steel were swept in the weekend series at the end of March the last time they faced off.
