Steel Fall 3-0 to Janesville

(Chippewa Falls, WI)- After a two-week trip to Alaska the Chippewa Steel returned to home ice to take on the Janesville Jets on a Thursday evening.

Janesville would strike first taking a 1-0 lead which they would keep through the first twenty of play. Despite Chippewa’s offensive effort they would be shutout by Jets goaltender Owen Millward. Shots at the end of the first were 12-11 in favor of the guests.

Steel not getting the bounces they wanted coming close multiple times in the second period hitting three posts and missing a few open nets. Meanwhile the Jets continued to pressure but momentum was still in Chippewa’s favor as they created many more scoring chances. Score would stay 1-0 Jets at the end of the period.

The Steel would pressure hard to begin the third, but Millward would keep Janesville the lead. Later in the third the Jets would score again increasing their lead to two while on the powerplay. Steel would have a couple good penalty kills in the third but only had a few powerplay opportunities. With the clock ticking down Steel pulled goaltender Grant Boldt with just over a minute and a half remaining but couldn’t convert to tie the game or bring them into extra time. At the 30 second mark Max Itagaki would make it 3-0 on the empty net.
