Chippewa Falls, WI- The Chippewa Steel of the NAHL has announced the signing of four tendered players for the 2022-23 Season.
Mason Johnson is a defenseman from Lakeville, MN, and attends Lakeville South High School. Johnson recorded 15 total points in 23 games during the 2020-21 season. “Mason is a smooth-skating defenseman, that is very responsible in his own end and can contribute with his skating ability,” stated Steel Head Coach Casey Mignone.
Brady Yakesh is a defenseman from Delano, MN. Yakesh played in 36 total games last year, recording 27 points. “A fierce competitor with a little bit of a mean streak. Brady can be a 1-man breakout, while not sacrificing his defensive responsibilities,” commented Steel Head Coach Casey Mignone.
Peyton Platter is a forward from Eau Claire Wisconsin. Platter played in 16 games at Eau Claire Memorial last season, scoring 14 goals and recording 21 assists. “A true north and south winger, who is deceptively fast and takes pucks to the net. Peyton is a smart player that always finds himself with the puck in the danger areas of the rink,” commented Steel Head Coach Casey Mignone.
Kayden Shahan is a forward from Everett, WA. Shahan played in 17 games last season recording 12 goals and 14 assists. “Kaden is a buzzsaw on the ice. He is a tireless worker, which makes life very hard for opposing defensemen. He possesses pucks very well and elevates the play of his linemates,” stated Steel Head Coach Casey Mignone.
A tender is a contract, of sorts, a player signs announcing his intentions to play for that particular NAHL team and that NAHL team only. Once a player signs a tender with an NAHL team, his playing rights belong to that team within the NAHL and he may not be recruited by any other NAHL team. Each team is granted ten (10) tenders – plus or minus any trades – which become active on Nov. 1. Tendered players are not eligible for the NAHL draft.
