Chippewa Steel Head to the ‘Greatest Show on Ice’

The Steel started out their season 2-0 after taking on the Fairbanks Ice Dogs. Last night the Steel Suffered their first loss against the Jamestown Rebels, 3-2.

Last Friday night Connor Szmul scored the first goal in franchise history. His goal started the momentum that led to the next two goals and ended the home opener with a 3-1 win. The Steel came out strong for game 2 of the weekend series and held the Ice Dogs off to record a 3-2 win.

The team will look to carry the momentum this week as they head to play in the ‘Greatest Show on Ice’, the NAHL Showcase. The Showcase will take place September 19-22 in Blaine, MN at the Schwan Super Rink. The Showcase is one of the NAHL’s biggest events of the season. The event brings in over 9,000 people and more than 350 professional, college, and junior scouts which will lead to many players getting NCAA opportunities after participating in the event.

The Steel started the week by taking on the Jamestown Rebels last night and suffered a 3-2 loss . On Thursday, they will face the Amarillo Bulls. This South Division team started off their season with a 4-2 loss against the Lone Star Brahmas. On Friday night the Steel will face off against the Brahmas who have a 1-0 record for the season. To wrap up the showcase they will take on the Topeka Pilots who have 3 games under their belt for the season. The Pilots took on the Odessa Jackalopes for their first 3 games and won 2 out of those 3.
