Showcase Recap for the Steel
The Steel finished the Showcase Tournament with a 1-3 record. The Steel took on the Jamestown Rebels, Amarillo Bulls, Lone Star Brahmas, and the Topeka Pilots.
On Wednesday night the Steel fell to Jamestown 3-2. The Rebels scored their 3 goals in the first period. The Steel came back in the 3rdperiod and scored two goals. The first was scored by Jacob Dirks and the second from Chase Davidson.
Thursday night the Steel took on the Bulls and suffered a 4-1 loss. The Bulls got their first 3 goals early in the 1stperiod. Grant Reichenbacher scored the only goal for the Steel in the 2ndperiod. The Bulls scored their final goal in the 3rdperiod to bring them to a 4-1 win.
The Steel swept the Brahmas on Friday night with a 4-1 win. Camden Thiesing got the first goal of the night in the 1stperiod. In the 2ndperiod the Brahmas tied the game. The Steel got another goal from Thiesing, one from Connor Zilisch, and one from Connor Szmul in the 3rdperiod. In goal for the Steel was Owen Zdunski who carried the Steel to a win with 26 out of 27 saves.
To end the series the Steel lost to the Pilots 5-1. The Pilots scored 3 goals in the 1stperiod, 1 in the 2nd, and their final goal in the 3rdperiod. Jordan Gonzalez scored for the Steel in the 3rdperiod of the game.
