Steel Fall to Aberdeen Wings
After an aggressive game, with 18 penalties combined for both teams, the Steel came up short to the Aberdeen Wings, 4-1.
After a scoreless 10 min in the first period, Aberdeen put one on the scoreboard. Steven Pokorny scored for the Wings assisted by Jonathan Bendorf and Pierson Brandon. The Steel fought back with a goal from Tomas Vochozka, assisted by Austin Mikesch and Killian Kiecker-Olson.
The Steel played a tough defense early in the 2nd period before the Wings put a goal in the back of the net. Joe Strada had the only goal in the period. The Wings carried the momentum to get the first goal of the 3rd period, scored by Connor Beatty. Peter Morgan of the Wings had a goal of his own to increase their lead to 4-1.
In goal for the Steel was Josh Langford with 27 out of 31 saves and Matt Vernon for the Wings with 27 out of 28 saves.
The weekend series continues tomorrow night at 7:10 p.m. The Steel will get another chance to face the Aberdeen Wings for guaranteed win night.
