Steel Split Weekend with Bruins

The final weekend series between the Chippewa Steel and the Austin Bruins ended with each team taking home a win.

Friday night the Steel beat the Bruins 3-1 to give interim Head Coach Carter Foguth his first win of the season. The Steel took the lead in the 1st period with a goal from Camden Thiesing. Jacob Dirks added another goal to the board in the 2nd period to give the Steel a 2-0 lead. The Bruins countered with a goal from Garrett Dahm in the 3rd. The Steel went on a powerplay towards the end of the 3rd, and Fillip Dusek got a goal of his own to end the game 3-1 in favor of the Steel.

The Steel got the 1st period lead with a goal from Fillip Dusek in Saturday night’s game. Austin’s Ian Mangeau didn’t wait long before scoring just over a minute into the 2nd period to tie the game 1-1. Dante Sheriff of the Bruins got a goal in the 3rd period to put the Bruins ahead. After goalie Josh Landford was pulled, the Bruins were able to slip away, and Josef Mysak recorded an empty net goal to bring the Bruins to a 3-1 win.

Josh Langford was in net for the Steel both nights with 31 saves on Friday and 38 saves on Saturday night. For the Bruins was Brett Miller with 19 saves out of 22 on Friday and 31 saves on Saturday night.

The Steel are back at home Saturday, December 8th to take on the Fairbanks Ice Dogs. The first 500 fans will receive Ice Scrapers presented by Nordson. Puck drop is at 7:10 p.m. and fans can get tickets by calling 715-861-2131 or visiting chippewasteelhockey.com.
