Steel Win 5-4 in Overtime

Chippewa Falls,WI- The Chippewa Steel and the Springfield Jr. Blues took to ice at Chippewa Area Ice Arena for game five of their eight game series.

Early on it was all Springfield on Friday night as they scored four first period goals to head into the first intermission with a 4-0 advantage. Steel Goalie Josh Langford was pulled in relief of Trent Burnham after the fourth goal was surrendered.

Chippewa was able to make a game of it in the second period as both Brendan Ogle and Connor Szmul found the back of the net to make it 4-2 Springfield going into the third period.

Springfield  headed into the third period being 28-0 this season after taking a lead into the third period all season. Jacob Dirks scored with  a unassisted goal at 17:08 to cut the deficit to one. Connor Szmul was the able to complete the comeback to  tie the game at four with a goal with just 24 seconds left.

Just over two minutes into overtime Killian Kiecker-Olson scored on an assist from Brendan Ogle and Spencer Oyler to give Chippewa the comeback win.

Trent Burnham saved all 19 shots that came his way in relief of Josh Langford. Jack Williams for Springfield stopped 23 of 28 shots on the evening.
