Steel Forward Jacob Dirks Commits to Ferris State University
Chippewa Falls, WI- The Chippewa Steel of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are pleased to announce that Forward Jacob Dirks has committed to play NCAA Division 1 hockey for Ferris State University of the WCHA.
“The entire coaching staff at Ferris State University made me feel comfortable and made it an easy decision for myself and family to join their program. I’m excited to finish my junior career with my Chippewa teammates and to be a Bulldog in the future,” stated Jacob Dirks.
The 6’1/190 lbs. native of Mindoro, Wisconsin currently has 7 goals in 10 games on the season. Dirks led the Steel with 40 points during the 2018-2019 season. He appeared in 13 games for the Coulee Region Chill prior to coming to Chippewa where he recorded 4 goals and 5 assists. In his 83 career NAHL games, he has 35 goals and 26 assists.
“Jacob has worked hard on and off the ice to get himself to this point. He has earned this opportunity and we’re very proud of his accomplishment in committing to play college hockey at Ferris State,” stated Steel Head Coach Carter Foguth.
Dirks is the third Steel player with a Division 1 commitment, joining teammates Jaden Grant (Bowling Green State University) and Zane Demsey (Michigan State University).
Prior to playing in the NAHL, Dirks spent his high school career at Onalaska High School. In 82 career high school games he tallied 112 goals and 80 assists.
