Steel Fall 4-3 to Magicians

(Chippewa Falls, WI)- In the second game of this weekend series the Steel looked to rally back against the Minnesota Magicians. The Steel had a strong start creating lots of scoring chances early on, but the Magicians Luc Laylin opened the scoring for Minnesota. Steel’s Ian Famulak answered with a goal of his own just under two minutes later. The Magicians would make it 2-1 before the period ended.

Chippewa had another strong effort in the second period but spent a lot of time shorthanded. After a big five-minute penalty kill Ian Famulak scored his second of the night on a nice pass by Connor McGrath. Later in the period Baker looked to have scored a goal but after review, it was ruled no goal. The period ended tied 2-2, with shots in favor of Minnesota 34-22.

Minnesota scored first in the third period but Ronayne quickly tied it back up at three early in the period. Assists went to Brown and Kerchoff. After a great powerplay chance and a shot off the pipe for the Steel, an unlucky bounce sent the Magicians McCabe on a breakaway and he made it 4-3 late in the third. The late goal by the Magicians would be the game winner.

Bylin made an impressive 46 saves on 50 shots.

The Steel return to Chippewa Area Ice Arena tomorrow against the Kenai River Brown Bears. Limited tickets are available at chippewasteelhockey.com.
