Steel Earn One Point in Shootout Loss
(Chippewa Falls, WI)- The Steel and Magicians faced off for the final time for the weekend, where the Magicians took the third game of the weekend series.
In the first period the Steel struck first on a wrap around goal by Brock Baker. They outshot Minnesota 14-6 in the first as well as controlled the pace heading into the second period.
The second period started off strong as the Steel went up by two when Ethan Janda wacked a puck in from near the goal line, assists went to Oyler and Benz. Later in the period the Magicians Luc Laylin tallied twice to tie the game at two.
The last twenty minutes Minnesota’s efforts would pull them closer and closer as they began to outshoot the Steel and create more scoring chances, but Berk Berkeliev stood tall keeping them off the scoreboard for the rest of regulation and taking us into a five-minute sudden death overtime.
Neither team could covert in overtime so the game would be settled in a shootout. First to shoot was Connor McGrath, then Grisha Gotovets, and lastly Ethan Benz, no Steel player would score in the shootout and with Jake Seitz scoring for the Magicians it would be Minnesota who was victorious.
