The Chippewa Steel took the ice Saturday night against the Minnesota Magicians after previously defeating them on Friday night. The Minnesota Magicians came out hot after a tough loss the previous night with a goal just two minutes into the first period from Marko Reifenberger assisted by Jimmy Doyle. The Steel battled back with a power-play goal by Jackson Decker assisted by Connor Szmul and Killian Kiecker-Olson. The Steel scored a second goal by Killian Kiecker-Olson assisted by Connor Szmul to take the lead going into the second period.
In the second period, the Magicians were outscored by the Steel 2-1. At three minutes into the second period, Grisha Gotovets scored a goal for the Steel, assisted by Issac Moberg and Alec Schwab. The Steel’s momentum was high as they scored for the second time in the second period. Scoring for the Steel was Isaac Moberg, assisted by Luke Farthing and Grisha Gotovets. The Magicians fired back with a goal from T.J. Sagissor.
During the third period, the Magicians came out strong with a goal from Marko Reifenberger assisted by Jimmy Doyle. The Steel returned fire with a goal from Connor Szmul assisted by Jackson Decker, increasing their lead to 5-3. Robert Christy (19) of the Magicians countered back with a goal assisted by Devin McCabe (13). The Steel came back with a goal from Connor Szmul, assisted by Jacob Dirks and Killian Kiecker-Olson to salt the game away and make it a 6-4 victory on Saturday night.
Magician goalie Jaxon Friedman ended the game with 23 saves before being subbed in by Skinner who ended with a total of 21. Steel goalie Grant Boldt ended with 27 total saves during the game.
