Chippewa Steel 2022-2023 Regular Season Schedule
CHIPPEWA FALLS, WI — The Chippewa Steel are ready to drop the puck on their fifth season as the NAHL officially announces the 2022-2023 schedule.
The schedule features their home opener versus the Anchorage Wolverines on Thursday, Sep. 22 at 7p.m. inside Chippewa Ice Arena. Anchorage was one of the Robertson Cup Finalists from this past season, narrowly losing to New Jersey in the championship.
In total, there are 28 designated home games, two of which are being played at a neutral location against the Fairbanks Ice Dogs on Dec. 2-3 in Marshall, Minnesota. Most games start at 7p.m. with some exceptions starting at 5p.m.
“We need our arena packed with fans contributing to the atmosphere and making a difference,” Steel President Brad Stepan said. “We want the game day experience to memorable.”
What is left to be decided are the four teams the Steel will play in early September at the NAHL Showcase in Blaine, MN. This serves as the league’s kick off event, where all 29 teams from across the country gather to play games outside their division.
Outside of those four games, every game will be played within the Midwest Division which includes the following teams: Anchorage Wolverines, Chippewa Steel Fairbanks Ice Dogs, Janesville Jets, Kenai River Brown Bears, Minnesota Wilderness, Springfield Jr. Blues, Wisconsin Windigo.
“We need everyone this year,” Director of Communications Kyle Cannillo said. “We are building something special in Chippewa Valley. Between family, fun, and food, what is not to like?”
The top four teams in each division will make the playoffs. The opening round series is a best of five.
The Steel are scheduled to have two trips to Alaska, one in late October and another to end the regular season in April. Other notable dates include Sep. 30-Oct. 1 as the Steel host rival Janesville, New Year’s Eve at 5p.m, and April 15 for fan appreciation night.
Stay tuned as a promotional schedule with theme nights and giveaways will be made public.
