CHIPPEWA FALLS, WI – The emotional roller coaster continues for the Chippewa Steel (28-24-6) who continue to fight for a postseason birth. The Steel currently sit in 4th place of the Midwest Division holding a one point advantage over the Minnesota Wilderness who have two games in hand. Chippewa secured three of the possible four points in their last series versus Springfield off of a 31 save shutout from Carter Wishart in a 3-0 win. Mathematically, the last two games of the season are not must win for the Steel at this point, but even winning both does not guarantee them a bid into the Robertson Cup playoffs. No matter how you slice it, Saturdays game on the road against the Wisconsin Windigo (38-15-6) is a massive tilt in a building that has been a house of horrors.

LIGI OWNS MARCH
Rookie forward Jacob Ligi capped of the month of March in a huge way by scoring twice in the 3-0 win over the Jr. Blues last Saturday. It was his first career multi goal game in the NAHL. He led the Steel with five goals in the month which included four of them coming against Springfield. Ligi tacked on a couple of power play goals as well and quietly has moved himself to fifth on the team in scoring with 29 points this season.
HEATING UP
Ajay White and Carter Wishart combined for 65 saves on 66 shots in the series vs Springfield. The lone goal surrendered on the weekend was in 3 on 3 overtime. In their last six combined starts, the two net minders have combined for a 0.950 save percentage and 1.66 goals against average. It seems like White and Wishart are trying to one up each other with each start and the Steel will need them when they take on some of the best offenses in the NAHL in the final two games.
