CHIPPEWA FALLS, WI- This past weekend the Chippewa Steel hosted the Kenai River Brown Bears and the Minnesota Wilderness for their home opener. Carrying momentum from winning Friday night’s matchup, five to one, against the Kenai River Brown Bears, the Steel finished the weekend with an astounding nine-to-five win against the Minnesota Wilderness Saturday night. This victory and the nine goals scored led to a break in franchise history for the number of goals scored in one game.
TEAM EFFORT- This weekend’s games included goals from numerous team members, those who are returning for another season and those who are new to the team, to achieve a total of fourteen goals between two games. The top scorers of the weekend include Jack Lackas and Jacob Ligi; both ending the weekend with three goals and multiple assists. Lackas and Ligi now lead the team in points and are tied for the top spot.
