CHIPPEWA FALLS, WI- The Chippewa Steel were back in action on Markquart Motors Night facing the Springfield Jr. Blues in two-game weekend series.

Both teams came out with a burst of energy at the puck drop. Each team saw penalties with Steel goalie Grant Boldt holding the Jr. Blues to 0-1 on the power play. Killian Kiecker-Olson was able to find the back of the net at 5:13 with some help from Johnny Druskinis and Jacob Dirks. A physical first twenty minutes came to end with the Steel leading 1-0.

The Steel continued to control the second period outshooting the Jr. Blues 12-5. Boldt continued to lead the Steel power-kill efforts keeping the Blues scoreless despite seeing 2 power play opportunities. Braiden Dorfman capitalized late in the second period with help from Szmul and Moberg to extend the Steel to 2-0.

The final period saw goal-scoring action from both sides. Springfield found the net on the power play but was quickly answered by Jaden Grant. The Steel held on to their two-goal lead with a final score of 3-1, outshooting the Jr. Blues 32-27.

The Steel will face the Jr. Blues again Saturday night at Chippewa Area Ice Arena. All fans will receive a winter hat courtesy of Chippewa Falls Kiwanis Club.
