CHIPPEWA FALLS, WI- The Chippewa Steel will battle the Austin Bruins for the first time this season on Friday and Saturday night. The puck will drop at 7:10 p.m. both nights at Chippewa Area Ice Arena and can also be viewed on HockeyTV.
The Chippewa Steel are over halfway through their season and are continuing to play competitive hockey. Holding steady at third place with 42 points, the Steel go into this weekend’s divisional crossover game with a record of 21-12. Steel forward Connor Szmul, who recently committed to UA-Huntsville (D1), leads the team in goals scored this season. Szmul scored twice for the Steel in their last series against the Springfield Jr. Blues and looks to continue creating scoring opportunities for his team.
The Austin Bruins are sitting at second place in the Central Division with a record of 21-10-6. Forwards Hugh Larkin and Dante Sheriff lead the Bruins on offense, each recording double-digits in goals scored this season. Goalie Brett Miller will be a tough opponent in goal with a record of 13-3 between the pipes and a .915 save percentage.
Friday night’s game promotion is $2 Beer Night presented by Miller Lite. Miller Lite will be available from the time the doors open at 6:00 p.m. until 10 minutes remaining in the third period. Saturday night’s promotion is Guaranteed Win Night for fans. If the Steel fall to the Bruins, all fans will receive a ticket voucher for a selected upcoming Steel home game.
