CHIPPEWA FALLS, WI- The Chippewa Steel get ready for a full weekend of hockey in the upcoming days as they hit the road for a two-game series with the Minnesota Wilderness. The Steel will then return to Chippewa Falls to face the Minnesota Magicians on Sunday afternoon with puck drop at 3:10. Fans can also view the game via livestream on HockeyTV.
The Steel were able to move into the second-place spot in the Midwest Division after splitting last weekend’s series with the Janesville Jets. Last Saturday’s road win gave the Steel the pivotal two points they needed to surpass the Kenai River Brown Bears. Three of the Steel’s defensemen led the goal scoring efforts in last Saturday’s game. Banks Burkart was able to tally his first goal of the season along with Spencer Oyler scoring his fifth season goal. Luke Farthing was also in the mix scoring his third goal in the last three games. Goalie Grant Boldt made his first appearance in goal for the Steel since mid-January after battling injury. Boldt saved 21 of the 22 shots on goal in the Steel’s win over the Jets.
The Minnesota Wilderness are sitting at fifth place in the Central Division. The Wilderness are coming off a split series with the Bismarck Bobcats. A win for them in this weekend’s series with the Steel could keep playoff points alive as they trail the Austin Bruins by eight points.
As for Sunday’s opponent, the Minnesota Magicians are coming off a series sweep with the Kenai River Brown Bears. Chippewa will face a high scoring threat from Magician’s forward T.J. Sagissor who has scored three goals in the last three games.
Sunday afternoon’s game is Faith and Family day. For tickets to Sunday’s game visit chippewasteelhockey.com or call 715-861-2131.
